The City of Albany welcomed Chief Cedric Scott on June 12, 2018, during his Oath of Office Ceremony at the Albany Civic Center. A native of Macon, Scott began his firefighting career with the Macon-Bibb County fire department in 1987 and moved through the ranks to become the department’s fire training chief. He was named Fireman of the Year in 1995.  Before accepting the position in Albany,  Chief Scott lead the Suffolk, VA. Fire department. Scott was awarded the Bibb County 4-H Distinguished Service Citation in 2000-2001 and was honored with the Star of Life by the American Ambulance Association in 2001.
