The City of Albany will participate in Georgia Cities Week 2024. This is an opportunity to showcase some of the City's many services and celebrate the employees, partners, and City leaders who keep Albany moving forward. This year's theme is "Soaring to New Heights." Georgia Cities Week starts Sunday, April 21, 2024, and runs through Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Sunday, April 21 - Soaring Together:
- Sneaker Sunday: Join us at 2 p.m. at the Government Center Plaza, 222 Pine Avenue, as we kick off Georgia Cities week by lacing up our sneakers and walking a one-mile tour of Downtown Albany. The tour will include a stop at the Albany Fire Department, where light snacks and water will be available for participants.
Monday, April 22 - Recognizing Those That Have Soared With Us For 40+ Years:
- Proclamation and Awards: We invite the public to help us show our appreciation to employees who have worked for the City of Albany for 40 or more years. The presentation will be at the Government Center, 222 Pine Avenue, starting at 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 25 - Soaring With Purpose:
- Utility Demonstrations: Join the City of Albany's Utility Operations Department as they demonstrate how they keep you and the City safe and operational. Demonstrations will be held at 1726 Lily Pond Road from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Friday, April 26 - Soaring for a Cause:
- Coffee With the Chief Fire Station 1 Tours: Enjoy a cup of coffee while you get to know Albany's Fire Chief and EMA Director, Cedric Scott. You can also tour Fire Station 1, in the heart of Downtown, where most of the Fire Department's administrative staff is located. To see what is housed at the Fire House and meet the firefighters that keep it running, contact Katie Deese by email at kdeese@albanyga.gov or by phone at (229) 302-1902 to register. The deadline to register is Monday, April 21.
- Donate and Appreciate: Join us as we host a Spring Pop-Up Shop and an American Red Cross Blood Drive. From noon to 4 p.m., local businesses will be at the Veteran's Park Amphitheater showcasing what they have in store for you. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can step into the Civic Center and donate blood and support those in need in our area. Those who donate will receive a $10 e-gift card and will be entered to be one of two people to win a $7,000 gift card! Terms apply. Both events will be at 100 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard.
