 Code Enforcement 

The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for maintaining the best interest of the citizens of Albany & Dougherty County as it relates to conducting business and property maintenance.  It is comprised of 2 Divisions; the Enforcement Division and the Marshal’s Division.  

The department regulates Occupational Tax Certificates, Alcohol License, Solicitation Permits, and Alcoholic Beverage Handlers Cards.  Inspects all vehicles for hire, investigates fraud of the City’s Utilities, and administer the False Alarm Reduction Program.  Serves tax levies, serves summons and warrants, enforces regulations, perform training to area merchants hoping to prevent the sale of alcohol to person’s underage, and perform security for city owned buildings, and during judicial hearings of the Municipal Court.

In addition, is responsible for the life-safety, general health, and welfare of the public within these boundaries as they relate to Property Maintenance of both commercial and residential properties.  Also ensure that nuisances as prescribed by city and county ordinance are brought into compliance to include illegal sign,  illegal dumping, demolitions and blighted property rehabilitation.
