What you need to know about the Weatherization Assistance for Homeowners
Albany Utilities electrical customers who are homeowners can apply to have their homes weatherized.
Eligible homeowners may receive energy-efficient weatherization repairs at no cost to the homeowner.
To qualify:
- You must be an electric customer with Albany Utilities.
- You must meet income eligibility.
- You must be a resident of Albany, Ga.
The goal of the weatherization project is to reduce energy costs for low-income families by improving the efficiency of their homes.
High energy costs are an extensive burden on low-income families. By lowering energy bills, measures delivered to single-family homes and manufactured single-family dwellings increase the home's efficiency.

You must attach verification of income for all family members when applications are submitted via website or returned in person.
If the initial application meets income eligibility, you will receive a call to schedule an appointment to complete the full weatherization assistance application.
You must present all other required documents listed on the Weatherization Program File Content Check List at the time of your appointment to move forward in the process.
After application has been approved, you will receive a letter of income approval. You will receive a call to set up an appointment for the Weatherization Auditors to come to your home and conduct a Visual Diagnostic Assessment and a full Weatherization Audit.
