Code Enforcement badge transparentThe Code Enforcement Department consists of the Enforcement Division and the Marshal’s Division.

The Enforcement Division is responsible for the life-safety, general health, and welfare of the public within the boundaries of the City of Albany and Dougherty County as they relate to commercial and residential properties. This is accomplished by the enforcement of Georgia State adopted building codes, laws and the local ordinances of the City of Albany and Dougherty County. The primary duties include the prevention, identification, correction or abatement of violations of all applicable laws, codes and ordinances. All functions of this Department require frequent communication and interaction with other local, state, and federal officials.

The Marshal’s Division is responsible for maintaining the best interest of the citizens of Albany and Dougherty County as it relates to conducting business, security for the Municipal Court and Albany Utilities.
