Paul Forgey became Director of Planning & Development Services in the fall of 2012. His prior experience includes 17 years as Planning Director for the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission in Camilla and a year as Planning Manager with Glynn County. Forgey received a BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design where he studied architecture and historic preservation. After graduation, he spent four years as a preservation craftsman with the Jekyll Island Museum where he became skilled in many aspects of construction and restoration. From there he relocated to southwest Georgia where he went on to receive a Master of Public Administration from Valdosta State University. Forgey became a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) in 1998 and a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) in 1995. He served ten years on the board of the Georgia Planning Association, four years on the board of the Georgia Alliance of Historic Preservation Commissions, and is currently serving on the boards of both the Georgia Planning Memorial Foundation and the Georgia Association of Floodplain Managers.
