Albany Utilities serves approximately 37,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers with lowest most reliable electric power in the area. Through the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) and the Southeastern Power Administration Agency (SEPA) Albany Utilities has purchase power capacity totaling 233 megawatts. This capacity, generated from numerous power plants powered by a diverse portfolio of natural gas, coal and nuclear energy, provides electric power to homes, businesses and industries throughout the City of Albany and Dougherty County.
The Light Department maintains hundreds of miles of power lines and substations with employees who are dedicated to serving customers 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.
